Film Synopsis
Destination Moon (1950) centers on an industrialist who joins forces with a rocket scientist and other specialists to privately finance the first crewed mission to the Moon after government support proves unattainable. As technical setbacks, the dangers of spaceflight, and a dwindling fuel supply threaten the astronauts’ safe return, the success of the historic expedition depends upon careful planning, scientific ingenuity, and unwavering determination. This science fiction adventure blends speculative science with realistic space exploration as innovation, perseverance, and humanity’s desire to reach the unknown shape a landmark vision of the Space Age.

Edition and Packaging Notes
- Film Masters’ “Special Edition” Blu-ray includes a 14-page booklet with writing by Sloan de Forest (“One Small Step / One Giant Leap”). It also includes Flight to Mars (1951).
