You don’t have to say “I do” to be married!
Film Synopsis
Common Law Wife (1961) centers on a longtime mistress whose aging lover attempts to cast her aside in favor of his attractive young niece. After discovering that their years together may entitle her to recognition as his common-law wife, she refuses to leave as competing desires and schemes create turmoil throughout their rural community. This exploitation melodrama combines sexual rivalry, greed, dark humor, and backwoods intrigue with the rough-hewn character of low-budget Southern cinema.
