Synopsis

Becket (1964) follows a close companion of King Henry II who is elevated to Archbishop of Canterbury in an effort to secure royal control over the Church. As he undergoes a transformation in loyalty and conviction, his relationship with the king deteriorates into open conflict between personal conscience and political power. This British historical drama blends character-driven tension, ideological struggle, and themes of faith, authority, and betrayal.
