The Vampire and the Ballerina (1960) centers on a troupe of young dancers who rehearse in a secluded countryside mansion, unaware of the sinister secret lurking nearby. Their beauty and vitality draw the attention of a vampire and his undead consort, who seek fresh victims to sustain their immortality. Balancing gothic tradition with modern sensuality, the film marked one of Italy’s early steps into blending horror and eroticism.
