Synopsis
Leptirica (1973) centers on a poor young man who accepts work at an isolated Serbian mill after several millers are found murdered under mysterious circumstances. As villagers become convinced that the attacks are connected to the legendary vampire Sava Savanović and supernatural encounters intensify around the remote countryside, fear and folklore begin overtaking daily life within the surrounding community. This Yugoslav folk horror television film examines superstition and communal terror within a rural landscape shaped by myth and isolation, as fear begins to overtake reason, with vampirism, peasant folklore, and supernatural dread.
