Film Synopsis
Hostage (1983) depicts a 16-year-old from Wollongong who marries a German immigrant after setting out to hitchhike around the world. As his controlling behaviour becomes violent, their move to West Germany isolates her among his neo-Nazi associates and exposes her to escalating criminal activity. This Australian exploitation thriller shifts from a working-class setting into heightened melodrama as coercive control expands into political extremism and crime.
