Lieutenant Fairweather, an accident-prone naval officer, is reassigned to a rundown ship bound for the Mediterranean, hoping to prove himself despite his notorious clumsiness. Aboard the HMS Aristotle, he faces a motley crew, eccentric passengers, and one misadventure after another, all threatening to derail the voyage.
