With a few modifications, the scenario for Date for a Murder could have easily been changed into a straightforward spy thriller. As it stands, the film is long on action and plot convolutions but fails to exploit the more lurid tropes of the genre. Even so, it moves at a decent pace and includes some effective sequences along the way.
