Film Synopsis
The Secret of Roan Inish (1994) follows a young girl sent to live with her grandparents in a small fishing community on the west coast of Ireland after a family tragedy. As she learns local legends about selkies and her family’s past, she becomes convinced that her infant brother, lost at sea years earlier, is still alive on a nearby island. This Irish-American fantasy drama blends folklore, family history, and naturalistic storytelling in a gentle tale of myth, memory, and belonging.
