Film Synopsis
The Lost One (1951) follows a German scientist now living under an alias in a postwar refugee camp who, when confronted by a figure from his past, is forced to relive the war‑time murder he committed in a moment of betrayal and the spiralling guilt that has haunted him ever since. As his fractured memories unfold through flashbacks to Nazi‑era research, treachery, and the cover‑up of his crime, he must confront how his actions and conscience have eroded his sense of self in the rubble of defeat. This West German crime drama blends noir‑tinged psychological tension and existential reckoning in a bleak meditation on guilt and moral collapse.
