Film Synopsis
The Iron Commissioner (1978) centers on an uncompromising police commissioner whose aggressive methods have earned him a transfer to a neighborhood precinct. As the troubled son of a man he previously arrested takes the commissioner’s family hostage while luring him into a personal confrontation rooted in vengeance, he must evade both his superiors and a dangerous adversary to save those closest to him. This Italian poliziottesco thriller examines justice and personal responsibility within a world where duty and revenge collide, as relentless police work, violent confrontations, and moral conviction drive a desperate race against time.

- Vinegar Syndrome’s Blu-ray is included in the “Eurocrime Rarities, Vol. 1” box set with Destruction Force (1977) and Day of the Cobra (1980). It includes a 44-page booklet with writing by Francesco Massaccesi (“Trash Cans and Cops: Analyzing Stelvio Massi’s ‘Dirty Gang’ and Tomas Milian’s Career”), James Oliver (“Metallic K.O.: Down the Mean Streets with ‘The Iron Commissioner’”) and Adrian Smith (“Warrior Queen: The European Adventures of Sybil Danning”).
- Cinestrange Extreme’s Blu-ray is available in two Mediabook editions, each containing a 12-page booklet with writing by Leonhard Elias Lemke (in German). It is also available as a standard edition without booklet.
