Synopsis
The Colossus of Rhodes (1961) portrays an Athenian warrior whose visit to Rhodes draws him into a dangerous struggle between patriotic rebels, foreign conspirators, and a ruthless king determined to maintain his grip on power. As shifting alliances, political deception, and mounting unrest threaten the island’s future, he must navigate competing loyalties while a rebellion moves toward open conflict. Blending historical adventure, political intrigue, and peplum spectacle, this Italian historical epic examines tyranny, resistance, and personal honour against the backdrop of one of the ancient world’s greatest wonders.
