Gene Wilder, wilder than ever!
Film Synopsis
Start the Revolution Without Me (1970) centers on two pairs of twins mistakenly exchanged in infancy, leading one set to be raised as French aristocrats while the other grows up among commoners during the years preceding the French Revolution. As romantic rivalries, duels, and political conspiracies intensify around the mismatched brothers while revolutionary unrest spreads through Paris and the countryside, the confusion surrounding their identities steadily escalates into comic chaos. This historical adventure comedy examines class division and aristocratic excess within a satirical vision of prerevolutionary France, as rival loyalties begin to collide, with mistaken identity, political upheaval, and absurdist humor.
