Synopsis
Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) centers on two boys who discover that a traveling carnival led by the sinister Mr. Dark grants twisted versions of people’s deepest desires in exchange for their freedom and humanity. As townspeople fall under the carnival’s supernatural influence and increasingly disturbing transformations spread through the community, the boys turn to a weary librarian and father figure in an effort to resist the growing evil surrounding the town. This dark fantasy horror film examines temptation and aging within an isolated American community, as fear begins to overtake reason, with supernatural manipulation, childhood innocence, and psychological dread.
