Synopsis
Smokey and the Bandit (1977) centers on a skilled driver and his truck-driving partner who accept a high-paying challenge to haul hundreds of cases of Coors beer from Texas to Georgia in under twenty-eight hours. As a runaway bride joins the journey and an enraged sheriff launches a widening pursuit across Southern highways, high-speed chases, CB radio coordination, and escalating confrontations transform the delivery into a chaotic interstate manhunt. This action comedy road film examines rebellion and outlaw mythology within a fast-moving Southern landscape, as authorities tighten their pursuit, with anti-authoritarian defiance, car culture, and reckless freedom.
