Who are Seconds?
Film Synopsis
Seconds (1966) centers on an unhappy businessman who is secretly recruited by a mysterious organization offering wealthy clients the opportunity to abandon their former lives and begin again under entirely new identities. As he undergoes an elaborate transformation, adopts a new persona, and attempts to embrace a more fulfilling existence while discovering the unsettling realities behind the organization’s operations, his promised freedom becomes increasingly uncertain. This American science-fiction thriller examines identity and personal reinvention within a world where desire and dissatisfaction can be commercially manufactured, as the pursuit of happiness gives way to paranoia, with psychological manipulation, social alienation, and existential uncertainty.
