Rex O’ Herlihan. The great big Western hero. To a lawless land he brought truth, justice, some fancy riding and wonderful outfits.
Rustlers’ Rhapsody (1985) follows a self-aware singing cowboy who rides into a clichéd frontier town and finds himself confronting stock villains and archetypal conflicts straight out of vintage movie Westerns. As he navigates sheep-herder trouble, corrupt ranchers, and predictable tropes with deadpan wit, the genre’s conventions are playfully deconstructed around him. This Western comedy blends affectionate parody and meta-caper energy in a lighthearted study of myth, formula, and frontier fantasy.
