La Dolce Vita

Poster of La Dolce Vita

The perfumed sinners and decadent saints… The pampered playthings of the jet set who live from night to night what they call “sweet life.”

Synopsis

La Dolce Vita (1960) centers on a tabloid journalist who moves through the nightlife, high society, and cultural elite of Rome while chronicling the lives of celebrities, aristocrats, and socialites. As a series of encounters, romances, and public spectacles expose both the allure and emptiness of the world around him while his personal dissatisfaction grows increasingly difficult to ignore, he struggles to reconcile his ambitions with a deeper desire for purpose and connection. This Italian drama examines modernity and spiritual disillusionment within a society captivated by image and pleasure, as the pursuit of excitement and status gradually reveals a profound sense of alienation, with celebrity culture, romance, and social satire.
