‘Rock’ star turns into square – a barrack square!
Idol on Parade (1959) follows a rock ’n’ roll star who is conscripted into the British Army at the height of his fame, much to the delight of the press and the dismay of his superiors. As he struggles to balance military duty with his rebellious persona, his presence turns the barracks into a media circus. This musical comedy blends satire and pop-culture parody in a lighthearted look at fame, conformity, and the spirit of youth.
