Film Synopsis
Head (1968) portrays the Monkees as versions of themselves trapped within a fragmented succession of musical performances, genre parodies, and manufactured scenarios. Their efforts to break free carry them through war movies, westerns, commercials, boxing matches, and concert stages, only to return them to the same cycle of entertainment. This psychedelic musical satire dismantles the group’s television image while critiquing consumer culture, Hollywood illusion, war, and the machinery of celebrity.
