Oh what a girl did – what a boy did – of ecstasy and revenge…

Synopsis

East of Eden (1955) centers on a restless young man struggling to earn the approval of his deeply religious father in California’s Salinas Valley during the years leading up to the First World War. As his father’s unwavering preference for his older brother deepens his sense of rejection while long-buried family secrets and his growing affection for his brother’s sweetheart threaten to fracture the family, he is forced to confront the consequences of jealousy, resentment, and his longing for acceptance. This drama examines family, identity, and redemption through a modern retelling of the biblical story of Cain and Abel, as love, guilt, and forgiveness shape an emotionally charged coming-of-age journey.
