An unspeakable crime among officers and ladies.
Synopsis
Conduct Unbecoming (1975) follows a young officer ordered to represent a fellow cavalryman charged with assaulting a respected widow within the tightly controlled confines of a British garrison in India. As testimony unfolds in a closed military tribunal, buried resentments, class tensions, and personal rivalries complicate the search for truth. This period drama blends courtroom tension and colonial rigidity in a measured study of honor, hierarchy, and suppressed desire.
