Synopsis

Chinatown (1974) follows a private investigator hired to uncover marital infidelity who is instead drawn into a labyrinth of civic corruption and hidden power. As the case expands to expose land schemes, political manipulation, and personal betrayals, moral certainty erodes amid mounting danger. This neo-noir mystery blends sunlit surfaces and fatalistic dread in a bleak study of corruption, power, and irrevocable loss.
