Film Synopsis
Castaway (1986) follows a young Englishwoman who answers an advertisement from a middle-aged writer proposing a year together on a deserted tropical island, where they marry to satisfy immigration rules before departing. As the idyllic promise of isolation gives way to the realities of survival and conflicting desires, their tenuous companionship is tested by emotional strain and the harsh rhythms of island life. This biographical drama blends rugged adventure and intimate character study in a contemplative look at relationship and endurance.
