What took place in that town in 1948 should have been a love story.
Synopsis
Buster and Billie (1974) centers on a popular high school athlete in rural Georgia who maintains a hidden relationship with a vulnerable young woman ridiculed and exploited by local teenagers. As peer pressure, sexual humiliation, and escalating emotional conflict intensify around the couple while the rigid expectations of their conservative community close in on them, the relationship moves toward tragedy and irreversible violence. This coming-of-age drama examines youthful alienation and social hypocrisy within a small Southern town, as emotional tensions intensify, with class division, adolescent cruelty, and sexual repression.
