Film Synopsis
Broadway Melody of 1938 (1937) centers on a young dancer who follows a beloved racehorse to New York and attracts the attention of a Broadway producer impressed by her talent. When financial complications threaten his plans to make her the star of his new show, the production’s fortunes become unexpectedly dependent on the horse’s success at the racetrack. This musical comedy combines backstage romance and horse racing with elaborate song-and-dance numbers, using its unlikely mixture of show business and sporting competition as a framework for exuberant musical spectacle.
