Black Crown (1951) follows a disoriented widow found wandering Tangier after killing her husband and losing her memory of the crime. As a compassionate engineer helps her reconstruct her identity, her former lover and others seek the location of stolen jewels tied to her violent past. This noir-inflected drama blends psychological mystery and romantic fatalism in a story of memory, guilt, and manipulation.

The plot is unravelled through numerous flashbacks and punctuated with dream sequences full of hallucinatory images of witches, clutching hands emerging from a grave, the black-clad widow being pursued by a dwarf in a brilliant white cemetery, and the symbolic black crown itself: the formation of ravens as they circle above a corpse.
