Lights… camera… commerce.
Big Shot’s Funeral (2001) follows a struggling Beijing cameraman who befriends a renowned American film director working in China. As the director falls into a coma and requests a grand “comedy funeral,” the cameraman organizes the event and seeks financial backing through sponsorships. This Chinese black comedy blends satire and farce in a story of commercialization, cultural exchange, and the collision of art and profit.
