Film Synopsis
Beatrice Cenci (1969) depicts a young noblewoman living under her violent father’s authority in late-16th-century Italy, where his wealth and influence protect him from punishment. She recruits a servant who loves her to help kill him, drawing the household into a papal investigation marked by coercion and torture. This Italian historical drama uses a nonlinear structure to connect the family’s oppressive home with the severe machinery of papal justice.
