Attack of the Robots (1966) follows secret agent Al Pereira as he investigates a sinister plot involving mind-controlled androids created to assassinate world leaders. As he delves deeper, Pereira uncovers a global conspiracy where human greed and artificial intelligence collide. This stylish Eurospy thriller from Jesús Franco blends espionage, science fiction, and sardonic humor in a tale of high-tech menace and swinging-’60s intrigue.

This is a mediocre film but it does have a few things going for it. Primary among these is the presence Eddie Constantine … He belts the bad guys and charms the ladies as per usual but here he doesn’t drink, which is quite a departure from his steady stream of whisky-drenched spy roles. … Second among the film’s merits would be Françoise Brion … the beautiful Brion had better roles in other Constantine films, but here she gets the chance to model a few fetish outfits. … Next may be the best thing about the movie after all, the photography. Much of the film is drenched in noir lighting that makes for visual interest even if one loses mental interest in the plot. … The soundtrack is good jazzy stuff by Paul Misraki, the last good reason to take the time to watch.
