From pagan idolatry to the worship of one God… from untouchable priestess to woman immortal!
Film Synopsis
The Story of Ruth (1960) portrays a young Moabite woman raised in temple service who begins questioning her beliefs after meeting a Judean artisan. Her refusal to participate in human sacrifice places her at odds with Moab’s rulers, and her subsequent journey to Bethlehem brings mistrust of her origins and a developing relationship with a local landowner. This biblical epic enlarges the brief Old Testament account with an extensive Moabite backstory, presenting Ruth’s conversion and migration through widescreen compositions and elaborate studio settings.
