A disillusioned writer drifting through the Arizona desert stops at a remote café, where he meets a wistful waitress longing for a life beyond the wasteland. Their fragile connection is tested when a notorious gangster takes them and others hostage during a tense standoff. As ideals, dreams, and desperation collide, each character is forced to confront the meaning of freedom and sacrifice.
