Rudyard Kipling’s epic of splendor, spectacle and high adventure at the top of a legendary world.
Film Synopsis
The Man Who Would Be King (1975) follows two former British soldiers who leave colonial India for mountainous Kafiristan, intending to make themselves kings. Training a local chief’s warriors, they use rifles and military discipline to turn regional conflicts towards their own pursuit of wealth and power. This historical adventure combines comic camaraderie with mountain journeys and battles, presenting their scheme as a miniature exercise in empire-building.
