Super women… who kissed and killed!
-
A film so truly terrible, incoherent, pointless, and confusing it’s not surprising it took two people to direct it, Mesa of Lost Women is told mainly in flashback by someone who didn’t witness most of what they are telling us. The jumbled (that’s being kind) narrative (that’s being very kind) features a lengthy silly dance, a mad doctor, and a giant spider that is utterly brilliant in its total awfulness, especially the bit where it gets thrown at someone. But so riveting are the 69 minutes of this strange mixture of random bits of dialogue and odd happenings, that the viewer may begin to wonder if the nightmare worlds of a young David Lynch might have been inspired by an early viewing of this bizarre offering. … The icing on this particularly cruddy cake is the music score, consisting of a repetitive guitar riff so irritating that it’s hard to believe Ed Wood used it a couple of years later. Or maybe it isn’t.
