Good-Time Girl

Poster for Good-Time Girl

Good-Time Girl (1948) centres on a teenage girl who escapes her violent father and seeks work in London’s Soho. Falsely accused of theft and sent to an approved school, she encounters intimidation rather than the help she needs. This noir crime drama presents her story through a juvenile-court chairwoman’s warning to another runaway, contrasting its cautionary framework with expressionistic lighting and shadowy underworld settings.
