The greatest romance and adventure in a thousand years!
Film Synopsis
El Cid (1961) concerns an eleventh-century Castilian warrior whose decision to spare captured Moorish leaders wins their loyalty and the title El Cid but exposes him to accusations of treason. A fatal duel turns his intended bride against him, while a royal succession crisis and confrontation with the new king lead to exile as an Almoravid army advances from North Africa. This historical epic carries conflicts over love, honour, and allegiance across widescreen Spanish locations, building from personal combat to massed cavalry charges and large-scale siege warfare.
