A Black Veil for Lisa was the first giallo from cinematographer-turned-director Massimo Dallamano. While it is not nearly as revered as his later What Have You Done to Solange? (1972) or What Have They Done to Your Daughters? (1974), it is a slick and well-plotted thriller with a compelling central performance. … In many respects, it is a giallo ripe for rediscovery. … On a final note of trivia, it is worth noting that this appears to be the earliest giallo with an overt plug for J&B Scotch. The company has been around in one form or another since the mid-1700s, and is well-known to connoisseurs of European Cult Cinema for its ubiquitous presence in dozens of gialli, poliziotteschi and sex comedies of the ’60s and ’70s.
